David Coverdale Says Whitesnake Won’t Join The Scorpions Tour Due To His Health Struggles

Whitesnake icon David Coverdale shared a post to announce that the band was no longer a part of Scorpions‘ upcoming tour on the band’s official Instagram account. Coverdale clarified the reason behind this decision and gave the bad news about Whitesnake’s concert dates.

Scorpions released their latest and nineteenth studio album entitled ‘Rock Believer’ on February 25, 2022, receiving positive reviews from critics. Most of their longtime fans stated it was worth waiting for seven years to listen to a new record from the band. As usual, it was time to promote it by playing worldwide as a part of their new tour, the Rock Believer World Tour, which made their fans happy and excited.

For the North American leg, which will begin on August 21, 2022, in Toronto and end on October 21 in Las Vegas, Whitesnake was supposed to join them as a special guest, but Coverdale’s health issues didn’t let that happen. In their Instagram post, Coverdale stated that he’s disappointed to say that his ongoing upper respiratory infection didn’t let him be on the road with their good friends, Scorpions members.

In addition to the new Scorpions tour, Coverdale revealed that the band canceled their performances for the same reason. Previously, they hadn’t performed three shows when the singer started to struggle with sinus infection and trachea. The frontman apologized to his bandmates, crew, Scorpions, and the fans. The German band will continue their shows with the Swedish hard rock band Thundermother.

The band’s IG post read:

“It is with profound disappointment and a heavy heart that I must announce that Whitesnake will no longer be able to join The Scorpions on their US and Canadian tour due to my continued treatment for a persistent upper respiratory infection that affects my ability to perform. It includes the cancellation of our headlining shows as well.

While Whitesnake will no longer be on tour, the Scorpions will continue. We wish our good friends, Scorpions, every success!

We wish you well.

David Coverdale.”

Coverdale added:

“My sincere apologies to my incredible Whitesnake band members, Reb, Joel, Tommy, Michele, Tanya, and Dino. I couldn’t wish for a more amazing, exciting, inspiring, and thrilling band. Also to our wonderful Whitesnake crew of 2022, our dear friends from Scorpions, Klaus, Rudolf, Matthias, Pavel, and Mikky D, all the agents and promoters, and of course to you, our truly awesome fans.

I’m deeply and profoundly sad to unable to tour.
