The intention to talk about a Slayer reunion was cut short by the drummer Dave Lombardo.
Appearing in the latest episode of the ‘Mark And Me’ podcast, the rocker was asked about the possibility of a reunion. Making it clear that he wants to look toward the future, he responded:
“I really don’t wanna answer anything like that because what ends up happening is that the focus right now would be Empire State Bastard and my future, and the future, which is… I think a big part of my personal success is that I don’t look back.”
Declining to give a proper answer to the question, the drummer talked about his achievements musically and continued:
“I’m always striving to better myself musically in every way possible, so answering a question like that sometimes takes away of what our focus is on right now. So, respectfully, I’m gonna have to decline [to answer] that question.”
Lombardo’s Earlier Comments About A Reunion

After the band split up in 2019, there have been some talks about a reunion. Despite his current answer, Lombardo had a few words to say elsewhere regarding a reunion.
Speaking to Revolver Magazine, the rocker made it clear that he does not see a reunion happening and that if they ever decide to come back, they would piss out a lot of fans.
Additionally, he said elsewhere that they wouldn’t be able to go any further than just listening to ‘whatever it is they had to say.’
What Does The Remaining Members Think of a Reunion?

The drummer does not feel like a reunion is likely. Well, what does the rest of the band say about it?
Gary Holt is not strictly against the reunion, but not positive, either. Commenting on a Slayer reunion, Holt earlier said that it was out of his pay grade. Still, even though he doesn’t think a reunion is possible, he clarified that he would be happy to join the band if asked.
When it comes to Kerry King and Tom Araya, the two friends think that the door is locked for a reunion, with Kerry saying that he would never say never.
So, the comments of the remaining members make it evident that a reunion is unlikely.
