Violet Grohl, daughter of Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl, announced that she has been forced to cancel two dates of her ongoing UK headline tour after losing her voice.
The announcement addressed her decision to postpone upcoming performances in Manchester and Glasgow. She explained the circumstances behind the cancellations and reassured fans that the shows would be rescheduled.
“Hey everyone, really fucking bummed to have to let y’all know I’m canceling tonight and tomorrow’s shows in Manchester and Glasgow,” Violet Grohl said. “I don’t have a voice right now and it pains me to make this decision, but I just can’t perform.”
She went on to address ticket holders directly, confirming that new dates would be announced soon.
“We are rescheduling these shows and everyone who bought a ticket will receive the updated info,” she continued. “Looking forward to seeing you soon xx I’ll be back!!!”
The cancellations mark a rare setback in what has otherwise been a breakout year for the young musician. Her current run of dates has been building momentum across the UK and Europe.
The scrapped shows were set to take place at Band on the Wall in Manchester and King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut in Glasgow, two intimate venues that have hosted her tour throughout the summer. Both stops were part of a broader UK and European headline run supporting her debut album, “Be Sweet To Me.” The album arrived in May and has anchored her setlists ever since.
The tour has served as Violet Grohl’s introduction to headline touring on a wider scale, following a string of dates that showcased material from her first full-length record. Losing her voice mid-run threatens to disrupt that momentum just as her profile continues to rise.
Timing makes the cancellations especially frustrating, as Violet Grohl is booked to appear at two of the UK’s biggest festivals in the days ahead. She is slated to perform at Leeds Festival on August 28 and at Reading Festival on August 30, both marquee bookings that will test whether her voice recovers in time.
