Dave Grohl’s daughter Violet Grohl recently addressed accusations of being a “nepo baby” due to her famous father. She shared her candid perspective on the topic in an interview with The Forty Five.

The singer, whose father is Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl, spoke openly about how she handles criticism regarding her family connections in the music industry.

“Obviously, doors are open for me because of my last name. It’s not something I’m ever going to hide behind or say, ‘No, I worked so hard for this! You guys shouldn’t say that! That hurts my feelings.’ I don’t care — I really don’t,” she said.

Violet explained that the criticism isn’t new to her and doesn’t affect her personally.

“I’ve heard that since I was 13 years old. So call me a nepo baby all you want. It’s ‘whatever’ to me. I just hope that eventually people will give me a shot,” she continued.

She also acknowledged the advantages her background provides while expressing gratitude for the opportunities.

“It’s such a privilege to be able to be around musicians and in a space that nurtures my interest and allows me to grow and to make a record,” she said.

The young musician concluded by inviting critics to judge her work on its own merits.

“Come see me live. Come listen to my music and then you can decide for yourself if I’m worthy of this career or not. This is my passion, this is my thing – and it’s all I want to do,” she stated.

Violet’s musical journey began at an early age, driven by genuine passion rather than family pressure. The Forty Five reported that she taught herself to play music starting with ukulele and later guitar. She also writes poetry. She knew at age twelve that she wanted to be a musician, demonstrating her commitment to the craft from a young age.

Her involvement with her father’s band provided valuable experience in the music industry. WTYE FM noted that Violet began hitting the road with Foo Fighters in 2018, providing backing vocals at numerous gigs. She performed with them at the tribute concerts held for Taylor Hawkins, gaining significant stage experience alongside established musicians.

As Violet prepares for her solo career, she has concrete projects on the horizon. 98 Rock revealed that she is preparing to release her debut album, “Be Sweet to Me,” which is due out May 29. The album represents her first major step as an independent artist, separate from her collaborations with Foo Fighters.

Her upcoming performance schedule includes major festival appearances that will test her ability to connect with audiences on her own merit. She has festival performances scheduled, including England’s Reading & Leeds in August and the Shaky Knees Festival in Atlanta in September. These events provide opportunities for fans to evaluate her work independently of her family connections.
