‘Dark Angel’ is set to unveil their first new music since 1991 at their upcoming concert on January 29, 2025, at the Whisky A Go Go in West Hollywood, California. The band recently announced the news on their official Facebook page.

This past July marked the band’s return to the studio to begin work on their long-awaited new album. Gene Hoglan had previously spoken about the project in April during an interview with Rocking With Jam Man, saying, “I have been working diligently for the last couple of years on some projects that are gonna make ‘Dark Angel’ fans really happy, I think. So, everybody, just sit tight.”

“I just don’t wanna nebulously announce something and then have circumstances beyond my control come along and make things delayed,” he further shared about a potential release date. “I just wanna be able to say, ‘Yes, this is gonna be a solid date that we can announce for people, and we’re gonna be able to stick to that date.’ That’s what I’m all about. So, keep your eyes and ears peeled, everybody.”

An original member of ‘Dark Angel’, Jim Durkin, passed away on March 8, 2023. Having returned to the band in 2013 for the first time since his departure in 1989, Durkin played with them until his death though he missed several shows in recent years. Laura Christine, Hoglan’s wife, filled in for him during his absence and has since become a permanent member.

‘Dark Angel’s vocal lineup also faced change over the years, beginning with Don Doty on ‘We Have Arrived’ and ‘Darkness Descends.’ Ron Rinehart replaced Doty after a brief period with Jim Drabos in 1987.

The group’s current lineup includes Eric Meyer and Mike Gonzalez alongside Hoglan, Rinehart, and Christine.
