Former Cradle of Filth members Zoë M. Federoff and Marek ‘Ashok’ Šmerda have issued a stern warning to their former frontman Dani Filth. They addressed recent accusations and demanded he cease making claims involving Sharon Osbourne. The statement was shared on Instagram.
The joint statement directly responds to allegations made by Dani Filth. It addresses the core dispute over alleged theft and exploitation within the band.
“Given recent events, we’d like to issue a further statement,” they said. “The definition of ‘defamation’ is making ‘untrue’ statements with the intent to cause harm. Unlike the statement of Daniel Davey, Every statement we have made thus far is true and provable.”
The former bandmates escalated their accusations against the band’s management and frontman.
“Cradle of Filth and their management Bradley ‘Dez’ Fafara steal from and exploit musicians, and we will continue demonstrating this via the legal route,” they continued.
Federoff and Šmerda specifically addressed personal accusations made against them. They also warned about involving the Osbourne family.
“For our former frontman to try and use trivial matters like supposed marital spats is laughable, but the rest of the accusations, including alcoholism and drinking while pregnant, are quite serious,” they stated. “Additionally to take a comment out of context about Sharon Osbourne is quite serious, especially given that during the same day, we have an audio recording of Davey relaying Fafara’s alleged opinions of her.”
The statement concluded with a direct warning to Dani Filth and the band’s management.
“We do not wish to involve the Osbourne family in this matter, especially in their time of grief, and we advise Davey and Fafara to end this here,” they said. “We are going public to protest the theft and exploitation we and others have suffered at the hands of Daniel Davey and Bradley ‘Dez’ Fafara. That is the core of the issue here, and we ask you not to be distracted by the rambling and instead raise awareness for the rights of musicians.”
This latest statement represents an escalation in the ongoing dispute that has rocked the extreme metal band. The conflict has drawn attention throughout the music industry.
The conflict began when Federoff and Šmerda departed from Cradle of Filth under contentious circumstances. Louder Sound reported that Šmerda was fired mid-tour just days after Federoff’s sudden exit. This followed their joint statement accusing the band of financial misconduct, verbal abuse, and exploitative treatment.
The former members revealed shocking details about the financial arrangements within the band. Vice documented that musicians under Cradle of Filth receive very low wages. Federoff cited just £150 per day and roughly £25K per year. Musicians are also contractually bound to exclusivity that prevents work with other bands during their tenure.
Dani Filth has not remained silent in the face of these accusations. Loudwire noted that Filth responded by calling their accusations attempts to defame and derail the band. He asserted management’s honesty and promised to share his side in due course.
Despite the ongoing turmoil and serious allegations, the band has maintained its commitment to scheduled performances. Dani Filth affirmed that the band will continue its South American tour without cancellations. He countered claims that the allegations against management are unfounded. The conflict has drawn significant attention within the metal community. It further emphasizes the tension between the former members and current band leadership while highlighting broader issues of musicians’ rights and contractual fairness in the industry.
