Dani Filth On His Collaboration With Ed Sheeran, ‘I Wouldn’t Say There’s An Irony In It’
In a recent interview with Knotfest, Cradle of Filth‘s Dani Filth shared his thoughts about his collaboration with Ed Sheeran that will be released once they finish the production.
The two people that probably would never cross paths were in touch soon after Ed Sheeran mentioned in one of his interviews that he wanted to venture into metal. He had said that he was obsessed with Cradle of Filth when he was a kid, which caught Dani Filth’s attention, and they got in touch.
In the summer of 2021, Sheeran invited Filth to his house to work on music. After Filth realized that he was genuinely interested in making music with him, they started working on a track. Ed Sheeran got sidetracked after his new baby was born, and life got in the way. During a recent conversation, the metal icon touched upon their upcoming project.
Dani Filth stated that his collaboration with Ed Sheeran doesn’t have a release date yet, but the song will come out once it’s done. He added that there isn’t any irony in it as they appreciate ‘the marriage of the extremes.’ He acknowledged that they are on different ends of the musical spectrum but stressed that it also makes the collaboration more exciting and enjoyable.
Filth’s words about his upcoming collaboration with Ed Sheeran:
“[It’ll be released] when it’s finished. We don’t know when it’s coming out. There isn’t an irony in it. We appreciate the marriage of extremes. So I’d instead do a track with someone like Ed Sheeran than I would do a song with, think of someone else. I’m not going to name names. But the clash of interests, the marriage of extremes, that’s interesting in itself.”
