On the cover of the printed fall issue of Kerrang!, Måneskin‘s frontman Damiano David shared his thoughts about their rise to fame and success story while backstage at the Lollapalooza festival.
Måneskin became the new face of rock music, especially for Gen-Z, in a blink of an eye. Their androgynous stage looks, make-up that screams rock music, and catchy songs added to their success. After they won the Eurovision Song Contest in 2021, the band became a global sensation with several hit songs, TV performances, and sold-out shows.
However, the road to the top took a lot of hard work and sacrifice, like most bands with the same level of recognition. Since their history-making win, the band has not been able to take a breather since they have been on the road for shows and festival appearances.
Damiano David stated that they have been grinding behind the scenes to get to where they are today. The frontman believes that they were meant to succeed in the industry. He added that everything they have experienced until this point has made them incredibly happy and proud. Still, they are not losing their minds over it.
The musician said they deserve the fame and glory they have received from fans worldwide because they have worked very hard. On the other hand, they also know it is not something that can happen every day and appreciate the love and support. Damiano David believes they know how to preserve their success and continue growing.
David’s words about Måneskin’s success:
“We always thought we could make it. Everything that is happening now makes us super happy and super proud. We’re also not starstruck by it because we f*cking worked our asses off to get here. We deserve it; we know how to keep it and what we want to do with it. But we also know it’s not something that happens every day.”
