In a new interview with Full Metal Jackie, Lacuna Coil singer Cristina Scabbia talked about her bandmate Daniele Salomone and revealed he isn’t an official member of the band… just yet.

“We’ve known Daniele for a few years now. He came on board actually a few years ago because he actually helped us during other recordings as well. Just like helping us setting the guitar tones or just like taking care of some equipment,” the singer explained Salomone’s role in the band.

Thanks to their relationship and mutual trust, the band asked Salomone to step in for their lineup change. “So we asked him to help us out for the cycle as soon as he knew the songs. We had this lineup change. We immediately thought about him because he’s a person that we know personally so we know that we can get along well. We know that he’s an incredible, great guitar player.”

One of the key reasons the band trusted Salomone was his expertise with equipment. “He knows everything about the equipment because he has a studio himself. He produces other bands as well. So he knows how to handle things. And it was the first person that came to our mind when we were searching for a person that would play guitar.”

However, Scabbia clarified that Salomone is not officially the new guitarist for Lacuna Coil. “He’s not like the new guitar player of Lacuna Coil. Because we always need some time. We need some time in order to be part of the family. You just have to tour with Lacuna Coil to see if that’s your thing. You don’t know if it’s something that you can actually take because the lifestyle of a musician is not easy,” she added.

After months of announcing guitarist Diego Cavallotti’s departure, Lacuna Coil introduced Salomone in October 2024.

Cavalotti left the band by his own choice. In a statement released at the time of his departure, he explained that his decision wasn’t due to any issues with the band. Instead, he chose to end his 10-year tenure to focus on other projects. “Yes, I am no longer part of the Lacuna Coil,” he revealed.

“Although this decision is not the result of my dissatisfaction or desire to explore new opportunities, I have serenely decided to accept it in consideration of these almost 10 wonderful years spent together, playing around the world, and to allow the band to continue its course without me,” the rocker explained.

Salomone officially debuted with Lacuna Coil at their August 4 performance at Rockstadt Extreme Fest in Romania. Since then, he has become the band’s main guitarist.
