Besides his music career with the Rolling Stones, Mick Jagger has also pursued a career in the film world as an actor, producer, and soundtrack composer. One of the movies he produced was ‘Get On Up,’ starring Craig Robinson as Maceo Parker. Robinson recently joined the Kelly Clarkson Show and recalled Jagger’s impromptu performance at a party.
Music takes up a large part of Mick Jagger’s life, but he is also passionate about acting. Throughout his acting career, Jagger appeared in several films such as ‘Bent,’ ‘Enigma,’ ‘The Bank Job,’ and ‘The Burnt Orange Heresy.’ The rock icon also recorded film scores and produced many films, including the 2014 film ‘Get On Up.’
In the film, Craig Robinson portrayed the funk and soul jazz saxophonist Maceo Parker. However, Craig’s talents are not limited to acting; he plays the keyboard and sings vocals. As it seems, the film brought him and Mick Jagger together at a party, and their encounter ended with an unexpected performance.
In a recent episode of the Kelly Clarkson Show, the actor recalled seeing Mick Jagger at a party when they were working on the film ‘Get On Up.’ He then said Jagger joined him on the piano by singing some tunes. According to Craig, singing along with Jagger was one of his most memorable moments.
Asked about that special moment, Craig Robinson said the following:
“I was at this party, and Mick Jagger was there. It wasn’t like Mick Jagger happened to be there. It was a party; we were doing this movie ‘Get On Up.’ And they had a party at this guy’s house somewhere. We were in Mississippi, and Mick Jagger was one of the producers, but then he got around the piano and sang tunes with us. It was amazing. I wish I had that picture for you. I was on a cloud.”
So, Craig Robinson was over the moon when Mick Jagger joined him, as he didn’t expect the frontman to sing tunes to his piano playing. Apparently, the Rolling Stones icon couldn’t help but join Robinson upon seeing him play.
