Courtney LaPlante talked about Spiritbox competing with Metallica and Gojira for Best Metal Performance at the 67th annual Grammy Awards on social media.

“I didn’t think this would happen again but it did…..very thankful very excited,” the singer wrote on X reposting Spiritbox’s announcement of their Grammy nomination.

“Here we go again! Once again completely unexpected, had to be woken up by our manager that the nominations were happening, and we get to be amongst four other incredible bands! It’s a shock to be nominated two years in a row off of the same body of work I am so proud of. Thanks,” LaPlante also said on Instagram.

The Best Metal Performance nominees for the 67th Grammy Awards are Metallica, Judas Priest, Gojira, Knocked Loose, and Spiritbox. The awards will be broadcast live from Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on February 2, 2025, on CBS and streamed on Paramount+.

While Spiritbox was nominated with ‘Cellar Door,’ Gojira will try to win with ‘Mea Culpa (Ah! Ça Ira!),’ Judas Priest with ‘Crown Of Horns,’ Metallica with ‘Screaming Suicide’ and Knocked Loose (feat. Poppy) with ‘Suffocate.’

Final Grammy voting will run from December 12, 2024, to January 3, 2025. Grammy winners are chosen by voting members of the Recording Academy, including artists, producers, songwriters, and engineers.

This year, the Grammy process was updated with new eligibility rules and renamed categories. One new award, the ‘Harry Belafonte Best Song For Social Change,’ honors the late icon’s legacy in social justice.

Next year’s Grammy Awards will be on Sunday, February 2, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, with 94 award categories. In Best Rock Performance, nominees are The Beatles, The Black Keys, Green Day, IDLES, Pearl Jam, and St. Vincent.
