When it comes to rock music, it’s no surprise to see many rockers having feuds with each other, and especially if you love to speak openly about others, you might easily be targeted. One of the examples of the people who never draw themselves back from speaking their minds would be Corey Taylor of Slipknot.
Known to have spoken about numerous people in the rock scene, including Machine Gun Kelly, Axl Rose, and Chad Kroeger of Nickelback, Taylor’s conflict with Kroeger began when they were both signed to the same record label. In the early 2000s, Taylor was unhappy with Roadrunner Records for investing more money in Nickelback than Slipknot, which sparked their feud.
Taylor spoke about this matter in an interview with Junkee in 2017. He recalled what Kroeger said for Taylor’s band Stone Sour. The Nickelback frontman stated that Stone Sour was ‘trying to be Nickelback,’ but they could only be ‘Nickelback Lite.’ Taylor revealed to be trying to cover it up for some time and said:
“[Laughs] I have been f*cking trying to bury that for months now! It’s out of my hands, man! We played in Sydney over the weekend, and people started a ‘F*ck Nickelback’ chant. I’m like, ‘F*ck, I’m never gonna get away from this!'”
The frontman then revealed to be receiving backlash from the Nickelback fans and explained what he feels about it:
“It’s so f*cking funny, especially when I’m seeing all of these tweets and sh*t from f*cking Nickelback fans. I’m like, ‘He’s the one who f*cking started it! I didn’t say a f*cking word!’ What are y’gonna do? You can’t control what people say, no matter how Trump feels about it. All you can do is ride the wave. Sometimes you’ll get f*cking wiped out. Other times, you’ll stay on the board. It’s fine.”
Although there was initially no holding back between the two parties, there have been no recent comments regarding the feud. Yet it’s still uncertain whether the two parties have come to their terms.
