As Corey Taylor gets ready for his second solo album ‘CMF2,’ to be released this coming September, the rocker retold the story to Rock Antenne about a phone call he received from KISS’ Paul Stanley when ‘CMFT’ had just come out.

Despite the recent lip-syncing rumors and transphobia accusations against the KISS frontman, Corey wasn’t shy to reveal he was a fan, recalling how chatting with Stanley over the ‘surprise’ phone call was, saying:

“I will never say a bad thing about KISS or about Paul Stanley. When ‘CMFT’ came out, he called me himself and congratulated me on just how rad the album sounded, and I shit my pants okay. My wife took the phone out and filmed me because I was just sitting there blood red, just losing my mind, just cheesing out. As soon as I got off the phone with him, I called everybody in the band. I was like, ‘You’re not going to believe who just called me.'”

Taylor added that it’s not every day that he gets calls from A-list musicians like Paul Stanley or gets recognized by Alice Cooper. He continued:

“Listen, that stuff doesn’t happen, man. Okay it’s maybe happened a handful of times in my life; we were talking about Alice Cooper before, one of my favorite people in this business and one of the most genuine giving people, the fact that he knows my name is stupid. No one at that level should know my name and call me a friend it’s dumb. So this all feels like I won rock and roll f*cking fantasy camp sometimes.”

The singer is living his rock n’ roll fantasy and even has his next 2o years mapped out. He recently shared with Metal Hammer the vision he has for his career by explaining:

“For me, the third act is bringing together music from this wheel I’ve found myself in – songs from Slipknot, from Stone Sour, and showing people things and bands they’ve never heard before. I want to be a mash-up of Bruce Springsteen and Ozzy Osbourne.”
