Corey Taylor Criticizes Rock Hall For Not Honoring Anything Except Pop Music

During his interview with Andy Hall on Lazer 103.3, Slipknot lead vocalist, Corey Taylor targetted the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame because of its mostly giving place to pop musicians for years. He also revealed his final decision about whether he wanted to be an inductee of it or not.

As you may know, it was announced that the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2021 inductees became Tina Turner, Carole King, The Go-Go’s, Jay-Z, Foo Fighters, Todd Rundgren, Kraftwerk, and Randy Rhoads with many more music icons. For years, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has been criticized due to choosing pop and hip pop artists and bands over rock musicians as inductees.

The most unforgettable crisis between the Rock Hall and The Sex Pistols drew the great attention of the fans and other rock musicians. When the band was announced as the inductee, its lead singer, Johnny Rotten wrote a rejection letter and saying that they weren’t coming. Slipknot’s lead singer also remembered this answer during the interview.

In the interview, when Andy Hall wanted the Slipknot’s fans to support the band to be inducted into the Rock Hall, Corey Taylor stated that it wasn’t necessary and important to be a part of it. According to Taylor, it disrespected many rock legends and honored most of them years later because of the fandom pressure. Also, he stated that they weren’t retired musicians and they didn’t need to be inductees to the Rock Hall.

Here’s what Corey Taylor stated in the interview:

“First of all, I don’t care about that Hall, ’cause I think it’s a pile of garbage. They don’t honor anything except pop music, really, and they only really induct real rock bands when they have to cave to pressure. They disrespected so many bands over the past by putting others in before the ones that actually deserve it, that I would probably go the way of The Sex Pistols. I’d be, like, ‘Your Hall is a sham. I don’t care if I’m a part of it or not.

You have no idea what the spirit of rock and roll is actually about. So take this and shove it up to your you-know-what.’ So, that’s basically where I’m at. And, obviously, I’m not getting any brownie points, and I probably will never be nominated, but I don’t really care.

The fans would actually care if we were in the Rock Hall, to begin with. It’s not gonna stop us from playing, I mean, think about it: football players, they retire and then they go into the Football Hall Of Fame. We’re still going. Why would I wanna go in the Hall Of Fame if we’re still killing?
