Christian Olde Wolbers has changed the name of his new band from Angst Fabrik to Machines Of Hate. The change follows the addition of ex-Fear Factory drummer Raymond Herrera to the project.

The former Fear Factory bassist, guitarist and backing vocalist reportedly made the change after announcing that Herrera had joined. The social media accounts that previously carried the Angst Fabrik name now appear as Machines Of Hate.

The profile information of the renamed account explains the new name and describes the lineup.

“Machines Of Hate is the Working title – new endeavor of former Fear Factory members Christian Olde Wolbers & Raymond Herrera tbc…” Wolbers wrote.

The name is described as a working title. It could still change. The project’s history with Fear Factory helps explain why the lineup has drawn so much attention.

Herrera returned to the drum kit for the project after roughly 16 years away from playing publicly. He left Fear Factory in 2009. He came out of drum retirement to record studio drum tracks for Angst Fabrik. The project has now taken a new name with him on board.

Wolbers and Herrera also have a difficult history with their former band. The two filed lawsuits against Fear Factory guitarist Dino Cazares and original vocalist Burton C. Bell over unpaid money. Cazares has described the dispute in his own words.

“Me and Burton got sued by [former Fear Factory members] Christian [Olde Wolbers, bass] and Raymond [Herrera, drums] for monies owed.”

The legal fight reshaped the band. Bell left Fear Factory in 2020. He said he “cannot align” himself with someone he does not trust or respect. Cazares now controls the Fear Factory trademark. He has continued the band with a new lineup.

Bell had also distanced himself from Angst Fabrik in April 2025. That dampened fan hopes that the project might become a home for several former Fear Factory members. The Machines Of Hate lineup currently centers on Wolbers and Herrera.
