Suicide Silence guitarist Chris Garza has weighed in on the recent reports claiming that Slipknot quietly fired longtime turntablist Sid Wilson, sharing his thoughts on the Garza Podcast.
The reports come after Wilson’s ex-fiancée, Kelly Osbourne, made new accusations against him just a day after his rumored firing. Garza addressed the situation by putting Slipknot’s nine-member lineup and its longevity into perspective.
“Okay, so I do have a take on the Slipknot thing. It’s positive. What no one talks about with Slipknot and the members is that it is nothing short of a miracle how long that band has lasted with nine members,” Garza said. “I’m in a band with four people. Four humans. That’s four humans too many. They have a whole other band. I want to say they had a solid nine in 99. And I think this when Jim joined, he was the last one. So I think we’re looking at 99. The last record with the nine of them was All Hope Is Gone and that dropped in 2008, I think. So look, 99. And unfortunately, that probably stopped when Paul Gray tragically died.”
Garza went on to break down the timeline of the band’s original nine-member run and praised their body of work.
“So, it was 2010. So, 99 to 2010. So, you’re looking at 11 years of nine psychos writing that kind of music. Torn as much as they did, taking over the planet, dude. It is a miracle they lasted 11 years with that with those nine psychopaths, dude. That is crazy. Like Slipknot is set forever, man. They are set forever. Like you can never take away those records. So that’s my take on it,” he continued.
He also stressed that outsiders can never truly understand the internal dynamics of a band, especially one with Slipknot’s history.
“We don’t know coming from a band member. It’s impossible to explain the interpersonal relationships with the band members publicly. It’s like it’s its own thing. And there’s no way in hell that I understand their relationships with each other. No one does. They probably even don’t let alone people with opinions,” Garza said. “I don’t believe headlines. I don’t believe what people are saying. No matter what comes out, you will never know what went down or the relationships or like the history and the past might. You don’t you don’t know. There’s so much like there’s so much history that goes into a relationship with uh with the band. Uh each band is different. And all that history, man. You’re a 90s band. I can’t even imagine. Money, Platinum Records. Holy crap, dude. Again, I was a band with four people. Four people, too many.”
Garza concluded by acknowledging that the true reasons behind Wilson’s departure remain unknown, while recalling a brief personal encounter with him.
“We’ll never know what happened with Sid and the band and vice versa. It’s impossible to know. Or maybe he sucks. Who knows? You know, I met Sid once. Cool guy,” Garza said.

Sid Wilson was informed on July 31, 2026 that he had been permanently removed from Slipknot after nearly 30 years with the band.
