Charlie Watts’ Wife Shirley Passed Away At 84, Ronnie Wood Bids Her Farewell

Shirley Watts, who lost her husband, the Rolling Stones drummer Charlie Watts, in the summer of 2021, has now reunited with her other half. The news came out that Shirley passed away last Friday after a short illness. Ronnie Wood took to Instagram to express his condolences and pay tribute to his friend and bandmate Charlie.

“Sally Wood and I are very sad to hear about the death of our friend Shirley Watts,” wrote Ronnie after hearing the devastating news of Shirley’s passing just over a year after the death of her husband, Charlie Watts.

He added, “We will miss you so much, but take comfort that you are reunited with your beloved Charlie. Our thoughts and prayers are with their daughter Seraphina, granddaughter Charlotte, and son-in-law Barry; much love to you all at this very sad time.”

The Rolling Stones drummer had been battling throat cancer since his diagnosis in 2004. He had also had two surgeries to remove his lymph nodes which had left him unable to use his arms. Charlie even had to pull out of the band’s US tour as his health was deteriorating by the day.

Especially after his emergency surgeries, the rocker needed time to recover. After his shocking passing last summer, everyone was distraught by the news, particularly his wife, Shirley. The grief seems to have taken a toll on the widow as she is now reunited with her beloved husband after passing at 84 this past Friday, December 16. Our thoughts are with the couple’s family during this challenging time. They sure will be missed as one of the most enduring couples the rock world had ever seen.
