Chad Smith’s Daughter Ava Covers Red Hot Chili Peppers Song ‘Universally Speaking’

Ava Maybee, the daughter of Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith recently posted a video on her Instagram account singing the Red Hot Chili Peppers song ‘Universally Speaking.’

Ava is also a musician like her father. To this day, she has not only released numerous covers but also 3 original songs, one in 2020 and two in 2021. After the debut of her 2020 original track ‘Lay Low,’ Chad Smith proudly announced the release of his daughter’s first original song and showed his support for her musical career.

It is not the first time the 23-year-old singer published a cover from his father’s band. 4 years ago, Ava released a cover of ‘Californication’ on Soundcloud. This time, she did not release a full cover but only a 30-second video of her singing ‘Universally Speaking’ and added a mirror selfie in the next slide.

In the caption of her post, she didn’t choose to attract attention to the fact that she is singing Red Hot Chili Peppers but instead, she decided to mention that she also belongs to the ‘no torso gang.’

Here is what she said in the caption of her post:

“No torso gang.”

Both Ava’s and the band’s fans have commented on her 30-second cover. Most of her followers stated that they wonder if the band heard this cover and if so, that they want a comment from them. Some users also stated that Ava needs to do more Red Hot Chili Peppers covers.
