In a recent chat with ‘Xperience Sessions,’ Nickelback’s Chad Kroeger shared one of the crazier fan moments he faced over the years in the spotlight. When telling the story, the frontman admitted that he had to ‘ignore’ an eager fan who wanted a picture. He explained:
“I mean, yeah, I’ve had a lot of them, actually. I was coming out of my front gate, and I was late to get to the airport because I was supposed to meet these guys because we were flying; I think we were flying to Europe, and I was really late.”
The rocker continued:
“The gates come open, and there’s a vehicle right there, and this woman gets out, and she just starts losing her mind, and she’s screaming. I can’t really understand what’s going on. She’s like, ‘Oh my God can I get a picture,’ and I’m like, ‘I am so sorry I’m so late.’ I don’t even have time for you to get back in your car to move. I’m just going to drive over my hedges.”
When his bandmates called Chad the ‘crazy one’ in his story, Kroeger said:
“I just drove right over the hedges and like went around her car, she was standing right there sure enough gate opens, and there I am in my truck, and I’m like, ‘Hi I’m sorry I’ve got to go,’ and I just went right over the bushes. I guess I was [the crazy one], but I was so late.”
Chad had also told ‘Men’s Health’ in 2012 another crazy story that involved a prank and Nickelback’s drum tech. He expressed:
“In a backroom in the venue where we were playing, there was an old fan with a metal blade. And we paid the drum tech… I think we got the pot up to about 600 Deutschmarks. I can still hear the ‘bleh-bleh-blehhhhhhh’ of the blade slowly sputtering to a stop and this blood-curdling scream. It was fantastic.”
