Carmine Appice made the headlines with his recent remarks about Mick Mars’ departure from Mötley Crüe. Enraged by his comments, Nikki Sixx took to Twitter and called Appice a ‘washed-up drummer.’ It didn’t take long for the musicians to come up with a response and criticize Sixx for his inability to play his instrument.

Last week, Appice sat down with Andrew Daly of Ultimate Guitar and discussed the reasons behind Mars’ retirement from touring with Mötley Crüe. Although the guitarist had cited his health issues as the main factor in his decision, Appice claimed that Mars was also angry at his bandmates for using pre-recorded tracks. So, he would prefer to play all his guitar parts live, while his bandmates didn’t care about that.

During a recent Q&A session with his followers on Twitter, Nikki Sixx was asked whether what Appice said about Mars was true. In his response, the bassist called Appice a ‘washed-up drummer‘ and wrote that what he claimed about their internal problems was far from the truth. Sixx also stated that the fans and the media should only believe what they said.

Upon seeing his comments, Appice fired back on Twitter by writing that he could at least play his instrument well compared to Sixx. The musician also exclaimed that he had pioneered hard rock drumming and also lessoned others to get better at their instrumental skills.

Nikki Sixx’s tweet about Appice read:

“A washed-up drummer speaking for our band without any of the facts is as ridiculous as bottom-feeder media running with stories without fact-checking. When you hear the truth, it will be from us.”

The drummer’s reply:

“At least this washed-up drummer can play his instrument well who has pioneered heavy rock drumming and can educate others around the world on his instrument!”

Under his post, many of his fans gathered to give their support to Carmine Appice. Most of the comments offered that he was not a washed-up drummer and didn’t deserve to be called like that. We’ll see whether the feud between the two will go any further or if any of them will take a step back.
