Swiss heavy metal band Burning Witches has announced their return with a new album titled “Inquisition.” The album marks their first release in two years since “The Dark Tower.” The announcement was made through the band’s official Instagram account.
The band shared their excitement about the upcoming release in their official statement.
“The wait is finally over!” the band announced. “Our new album, video single, album release tour dates and cover revealed!”
The statement continued with details about the album’s timeline and release plans.
“2 years after the release of ‘The Dark Tower,’ we are excited to introduce you to ‘Inquisition,’ our highly anticipated new album, that will be released on August 22nd, 2025 via Napalm Records,” they said.
The album is set to be released through Napalm Records. Tour dates are expected to be announced alongside the release.
This announcement marks another significant milestone for the Swiss metal outfit. The band has established itself as a prominent force in the European heavy metal scene since its formation.
Wikipedia reported that Burning Witches was founded in 2015 by guitarist Romana Kalkuhl. She sought to create an all-female metal band that would stand out in the heavy metal landscape. The band’s formation represented a deliberate effort to bring more female representation to the traditionally male-dominated metal genre.
The group underwent significant changes in its early years. The addition of Dutch vocalist Laura Guldemond in 2019 was particularly significant. Metal Storm noted that this lineup change helped solidify the band’s sound and stage presence. It contributed to their growing reputation in the metal community.
Burning Witches has built their identity around thematic storytelling that often explores historical themes. They particularly focus on the persecution of witches throughout history. Louder Sound highlighted that the band uses these historical references to comment on contemporary social issues. They create music that resonates with broader societal themes while maintaining their heavy metal edge.
The band’s previous releases have established them as a notable presence in the European metal scene. These include their self-titled debut album in 2017 and subsequent records. Their partnership with Napalm Records for “Inquisition” continues their commitment to professional production and wide distribution. This ensures their music reaches metal fans across multiple markets.
