Bruce Springsteen Releases His Rendition Of ‘Don’t Play That Song’

After his 2006 album ‘We Shall Overcome: The Seeger Sessions,’ Bruce Springsteen is now getting ready to release his second cover album, titled ‘Only The Strong Survive.’ Ahead of the album’s release, Springsteen recently dropped the third single, ‘Don’t Play That Song,’ along with a music video.

‘Only The Strong Survive’ is set to be released on November 11, 2022, through Columbia Records. It features fifteen covers of iconic soul songs from the 1960s and 1970s. Before releasing the Ben E. King cover, ‘Don’t Play That Song,’ the Boss released his covers of ‘Do I Love You (Indeed I Do)’ and ‘Nightshift’ as the first and second singles.

On October 28, Springsteen shared his ‘Don’t Play That Song’ cover along with a black and white music video. Directed by Thom Zimny, the video features Springsteen performing along with the E Street Horns in a joyous and pleasant atmosphere. As of now, the video has around 400,000 views on YouTube.

‘Don’t Play That Song’ was first recorded by Ben E. King as the title track of his 1962 album. Following its release, the song became a chart success and ranked in the top 10. Apart from Bruce Springsteen, many other artists have also covered King’s classic hit, including Aretha Franklin, Mariah Carrey, and Kelly Clarkson.
