In his announcement, Dickinson emphasized the value of real musicianship over artificial intelligence. “What we do is real and that’s so important right now,” he said. “A real drummer, a real bass player, real guitarists, real keyboards – AI can only copy, it can only pretend. It can never be in love, and it can never play. This band? They can really play!”

The tour marks a significant statement from Dickinson about authenticity in live music performance.

Dickinson’s anti-AI stance reflects his recent recording process. He completed his eighth solo studio album at Dave Grohl’s Studio 606 in California with producer Brendan Duffey and his touring band, recording 16 tracks in 21 days entirely live. Dickinson describes the album as the product of “the anti-AI generation,” emphasizing real performances captured in the studio.

The new album features Sepultura guitarist Andreas Kisser on percussion, adding another layer of live musicianship to the project. This collaborative approach underscores Dickinson’s commitment to authentic, human-driven music creation.

Evergrey, who will support the tour’s November and December dates, are a Swedish progressive metal band from Gothenburg known for their dark lyrical themes and a sound that blends progressive and power metal elements. The pairing brings together artists who share an emphasis on live performance and technical musicianship.
