Tesla bassist Brian Wheat has announced the formation of a new band while addressing speculation about his departure from the iconic rock group. He shared the news in a statement posted on Instagram.

The announcement revealed details about his new musical project and clarified his ongoing commitment to Tesla.

“It’s good to reconnect with my old pal Tommy Skeoch, we’re working on a new band together called ‘Terminal’ with Chris Holmes and Josey Scott from Saliva,” Wheat said. The lineup includes original Tesla guitarist Tommy Skeoch, former W.A.S.P. guitarist Chris Holmes, and Saliva’s original frontman Josey Scott. This marks a blend of veteran rock talent from different eras and bands.

The bassist went on to address concerns about his status with Tesla while outlining his various upcoming projects.

“We look forward to presenting you with our new brand of music. No, I am not leaving Tesla, I’m just starting another new band with my old friend,” he continued. “Also, look for me and Alex with Violet breed and a lot of new exciting Tesla stuff coming up in the works.”

This announcement comes at a time when Tesla’s recording future remains uncertain. The timing adds context to Wheat’s multiple musical ventures.

Sonic Perspectives reported that Wheat recently commented on Tesla’s future recordings. He indicated it is unlikely the band will record another full-length album soon due to their busy touring schedule and the logistics involved. He emphasized that Tesla’s priority remains live performances, which take precedence over spending the extensive time needed for studio recording together.

The Terminal lineup represents a significant reunion for Wheat and Skeoch, who share deep musical history. Blabbermouth noted that Skeoch was an original founding member of Tesla and played on their early defining albums before rejoining the band over 25 years ago. This collaboration marks another chapter in their long-standing musical partnership.

The addition of Chris Holmes and Josey Scott brings considerable experience to Terminal. Antimusic highlighted that Holmes is recognized as a W.A.S.P. icon, while Scott served as Saliva’s original frontman. Scott contributed to the band’s early success in the nu-metal and alternative rock scenes.

The new band Terminal brings together experienced musicians from the rock scene. Wheat maintains his role in Tesla alongside these additional musical ventures. With Tesla focusing on touring rather than studio work, Terminal provides Wheat and Skeoch an outlet for new creative expression while honoring their shared musical legacy.
