Black Veil Brides frontman Andy Biersack recently opened up about the band’s new album ‘Vindicate’. He revealed his personal approach to dealing with those who have wronged him, in an interview with Sonic Perspectives.
The discussion centered around the intense emotions and anger that fuel the new record. When asked about where the rage and anger in ‘Vindicate’ originated from, despite his typically calm demeanor, Biersack provided a candid response about his motivational methods.
“I mean, it’s going to sound kind of hacked to say, but it’s really the most honest record that we’ve made in that sense because that is how I operate,” Biersack said. “For better or for worse, I am someone who is incredibly I always joke with Kevin, I have a list of everything that I’ve ever seen, someone do wrong to me and I sort of keep it in my mind.”
The frontman explained how this mindset has been a driving force throughout his life, from childhood to the present.
“It has motivated me from the time I was 6 years old and starting to play hockey as a kid and, you know, my dad telling me you got to show them what you got and, you know, go out there and and prove them wrong kind of thing,” he continued. “To, you know, being 35 years old and it’s still a deeply motivating thing.”
Biersack acknowledged the complex nature of this revenge-oriented approach to motivation.
“Now, as I’ve gotten older and through the years of my life, I have found that there is a real hollowness to the sort of revenge-oriented lifestyle,” he said. “And yet I still find myself compelled to go, ‘Ah, f*ck that person. I’m going to show them what you know that they’re wrong.’ And it has been equal parts beneficial for me as well as you know, at times isolating.”
The musician emphasized that this honest approach was intentionally reflected in the album’s lyrical content and musical direction. He believes this mentality is something many people can relate to, whether dealing with workplace issues or family conflicts.
These revelations come at a significant time for the band. ‘Vindicate’ represents a major milestone in their career trajectory. DBZ Books N Records reported that the album officially released on May 8, 2026, marking Black Veil Brides’ seventh studio album and what many consider their most visceral and creative work to date.
The album showcases the band’s evolution both musically and production-wise. Dork noted that ‘Vindicate’ features 14 tracks. The album was self-produced by Andy Biersack and guitarist Jake Pitts, demonstrating the band’s growing artistic control over their sound. The production incorporates ambitious elements including seven-string guitars, full orchestra, and gospel choir arrangements scored by multi-instrumentalist Jinxx.
The album’s release strategy has been notably comprehensive. The band built anticipation through multiple pre-release singles. Alterock detailed that these included “Bleeders,” “Hallelujah,” “Certainty,” the title track “Vindicate,” and most recently “Revenger” featuring Machine Head, showcasing the collaborative spirit that has defined this album cycle.
Beyond the music industry, ‘Vindicate’ has already made its mark in popular culture. Alterock highlighted that the track “Woe & Pain” was selected as the soundtrack for WWE’s hype package for the Cody Rhodes vs. Randy Orton match at WrestleMania 42, demonstrating the album’s crossover appeal and the raw energy that Biersack described in his interview.
The band also embraced innovative fan engagement through VEEPS. The platform offered exclusive early access to the entire unreleased album complete with official music videos and a documentary about the album’s creation process. Andy Biersack personally broke down the story behind each track, providing fans with deeper insight into the revenge-motivated themes he discussed.
