Legendary bassist Billy Talbot recently expressed his desire to tour with Neil Young once more in an interview with Ultimate Guitar. He mentioned being keen on doing it at least one more time, but didn’t dwell on the idea. Instead, he chose to focus on their upcoming record, ‘Somewhere Under the Rainbow,’ which he had just listened to and reminisced about their journey together that began back in 1973.

The relationship between Talbot and Neil Young dates back to 1967 when they met and formed the iconic band, Crazy Horse. They have had a fruitful collaboration ever since, creating memorable music together. Talbot started making solo music with his own band, The Billy Talbot Band, in 1999, but his connection with Young has remained strong.

This April, the members of Crazy Horse will release a unique collection of songs, titled ‘All Roads Lead Home.’ Each member has independently written and recorded their songs, collaborating with friends and guests. The album is part of a series of releases that will also include a collection of bootleg recordings from Neil Young and Crazy Horse’s extensive career. One of these bootlegs, the 1973 recording ‘Somewhere Under the Rainbow,’ is set to be released on April 14.

In the interview, Talbot revealed his desire to tour with Young, but he’s more focused on living in the present rather than worrying about future touring plans. He takes pride in the fact that they’ve managed to maintain a productive and creative relationship for so many years. The upcoming record, ‘Somewhere Under the Rainbow,’ is a testament to their enduring partnership.

When asked about his plans for a tour in 2023, the bassist replied:

“I’m interested in touring with Neil some more – at least one more time; I’d like to do that. But I’m not worried about that. I don’t think about that as much as I try to be day by day. We have this record coming out. We have a new one with Neil – ‘Somewhere Under the Rainbow.’ It’s a pretty good record; I just listened to it in the past couple days. I remember back to that time – that was 1973 – that’s quite a long time ago. Anyway, life is good in that sense that were able to have such a fruitful existence, still, at this age.”

Billy Talbot’s desire to tour with Neil Young one last time highlights the deep bond and shared history between these two music legends. While Talbot’s focus is on their upcoming releases and enjoying life day by day, fans can’t help but hope that a reunion tour might be in the cards. With new music on the horizon and a storied past to celebrate, there’s no denying that the legacy of Talbot and Young’s collaboration will continue to captivate audiences for years to come.
