In a recent conversation with Howard Stern, Billy Joel disclosed a significant item still remaining on his bucket list: creating a supergroup with some of his favorite fellow musicians.

While naming the musicians, he discarded one person when asked, and it’s no one other than the bassist Beatle, Paul McCartney. He said of the imaginary band:

“I thought about putting together a band: Me, Don Henley, and Sting, and maybe John Mayer on guitar.”

When Howard Stern asked about the possibility of inviting his friend Paul McCartney into the band, Joel promptly dismissed the suggestion and revealed the reason behind it:

“He was in the super-est group of all-time. I don’t have the nerve to do that.”

Who Is Joel’s Drummer Of Choice?

Despite Howard Stern’s persistence, Joel admitted he would endorse the idea any day. The singer then elaborated on his concept, and when asked who he would like as his drummer, the musician went all in and plumped for the other surviving member of the Fab Four — Ringo Starr:

“He’s a great drummer. He doesn’t get the credit he deserves.”
