ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons recently joined Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk for an interview and confirmed that Jeff Beck will accompany ZZ Top during the band’s forthcoming dates.

Throughout his music career, Jeff Beck performed and recorded with several artists. At the 2009 25th Anniversary Hall Of Fame Concert, the guitarist shared the same stage with Billy Gibbons to perform Jimi Hendrix’s ‘Foxy Lady.’ In 2010, Beck and Gibbons appeared on the Tonight Show With Conan O’Brien and played a version of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s ‘Free Bird.’

Beck has also joined ZZ Top during tours. On March 3, 2015, ZZ Top embarked on a North American tour and performed until the final show in Highland Park, Illinois, at the Ravinia Pavilion on August 27. The guitarist appeared with the band for seven shows throughout this tour. Besides, he performed guitar on ‘Hey Mr. Millionaire’ from ZZ Top’s ‘XXX.’

In August, Jeff Beck announced that he would be touring to support his latest album ’18.’ He will share the same stage with Heart’s Ann Wilson and ZZ Top for the first six dates of ZZ Top’s Raw Whisky Tour, between September 23 and 30. Afterward, the guitarist will continue touring in North America throughout October and November.

During a recent episode of Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk, Billy Gibbons revealed whether touring with Jeff Beck was a long-time plan. Gibbons said he recently spoke with the guitarist, and ZZ Top altered some songs to allow Beck to join them on stage. Moreover, he excited the fans by saying he has high hopes for these shows.

When asked whether working with Jeff Beck was something in the making for a while, Billy Gibbons told Eddie Trunk the following:

“Oh, yeah. In fact, I was able to speak with Jeff Beck just yesterday. They wrapped up their run through Europe. They had quite a successful tour across Europe. In fact, we had a few laps of designing a couple of new numbers that we can add to the show, which would allow Jeff to join the ZZ Top stage. That ought to make for some real fireworks. I’m looking forward to that.”

On June 9, 2022, Beck and Johnny Depp released the lead single from their collaborative album ’18,’ titled ‘This Is A Song For Miss Hedy Lamarr.’ The album hit the record stores on July 15, 2022, and it featured two original songs and covers from artists like Marvin Gaye, the Beach Boys, and the Velvet Underground.
