Billie Joe Armstrong recently jumped on stage to join the band Borderline Toxic while they were covering Green Day‘s hit song ‘Basket Case’ at Slim Jim’s Liquor Store. Following the show, both names shared the surprising encounter on their social media accounts.

Armstrong, known for his spontaneous appearances, managed to surprise both the audience and the band members of Borderline Toxic by walking into the bar and joining them on stage. The vocalist of Borderline Toxic, Kerry Glass, was in the middle of ‘Basket Case’ when Armstrong hopped on to share the microphone.

Green Day’s Instagram post read:

“When you walk into a pub, and the cover band starts playing your song at Slim Jim’s Liquor Store.”

Borderline Toxic also shared the experience through their Instagram post that read:

“The moment your band gets joined on stage by your childhood idol to sing their own song with you in your favorite dive bar! Billie Joe Armstrong, Green Day! Thank you, you legend! This was the first band to get me into rock when I was 11 years old, and I’m honestly just so made up be right back crying, screaming, spewing.”

As evident by the cheers and applause heard in the background of the videos, the crowd was thrilled to see Armstrong onstage with their favorite band. Considering Borderline Toxic’s remarks on the show, it seems it was a moment to remember for them as well.
