Bill Kelliher revealed new details about Mastodon’s upcoming album in a recent interview with Guitar World.
“It’ll be the three of us. It’s stuff the three of us have written together,” Kelliher stated when asked about Brent Hinds’ involvement in the new record.
“It’s amazing we made it 25 years with the four of us,” he continued. “Traveling the world, trying to stay the course, having everybody agree – that we managed to do it this long, I feel like that’s a feat in itself. And yeah, you could never replace any of us because it’s the sum of four parts.”
“But that doesn’t mean there’s not someone out there that has stuff to offer in a new direction,” Kelliher added. “I think I’ll just leave it there, you know? It was a hard decision we all had to make.”
Brent Hinds’ departure from the band marks a significant change in Mastodon’s lineup after 25 years together.
This lineup change represents a pivotal moment for the band. However, Mastodon continues to move forward with ambitious plans for their future.
MetalSucks revealed that the band’s upcoming album will arrive in 2025. The new release will take the form of a concept album exploring supernatural horror themes.
Blabbermouth featured insights from drummer Brann Dailor. He described their new musical direction as eclectic. The sound will blend elements of punk rock and progressive metal.
Coverage from AudioInk Radio highlighted Mastodon’s recent celebration of their ‘Leviathan’ album’s 20th anniversary. The band marked this milestone with a successful tour alongside Lamb of God.
The group demonstrated their creative evolution by releasing ‘Floods of Triton’ in September 2024. This new collaborative single showcases their commitment to artistic growth during this period of change.
