Shinedown drummer Barry Kerch recently provided an update on the band’s highly anticipated new album. He shared details about upcoming announcements during an appearance on the Mistress Carrie Podcast.
Kerch offered fans some encouraging news about the timeline for official announcements regarding the follow-up to 2022’s ‘Planet Zero’ album.
“I know the announcement’s coming out this month,” Kerch said. “This month, the announcement will be made, and the album title, everything will be out there, and a date for the release will be out there this month.”
The drummer’s comments suggest that fans won’t have to wait much longer for concrete details about Shinedown’s next musical chapter.
This upcoming release marks an exciting period for the band as they prepare to unveil their eighth studio album. Blabbermouth reported that Kerch described the upcoming album as “as eclectic as always,” adding, “Get ready for a ride.”
The band has been building momentum with several major announcements for 2026. Blabbermouth confirmed that Shinedown will headline the main stage at Sonic Temple festival on Friday, May 15, 2026. This marks their first time headlining the Ohio event.
The band has also scheduled their own festival experience for later in the year. Blabbermouth noted that Shinedown’s Lunatic Ball Beach Weekend is set for October 23-25, 2026, in Miramar Beach, Florida. The event will feature two headlining sets from the band plus performances by acts like BUSH and FLYLEAF.
The timing of these announcements aligns perfectly with Kerch’s promise of January revelations. Chaos Zine indicated that the band is expected to reveal all album details this month, including the official title and release date.
Fans have been eagerly awaiting news of the band’s next musical direction since ‘Planet Zero’ was released in 2022. The combination of festival headlining slots and a new album suggests 2026 will be a significant year for the Jacksonville-based rock band.
