Bad Wolves announced significant lineup changes through their official Instagram account. Guitarist Doc Coyle and bassist Kyle Konkiel have departed the band.
“Thank you for everything, Doc and Kyle – we love you and wish you the best,” the band stated. “WOLFPACK, please join us in welcoming our new bassist Kevin Creekman and a warm welcome back to Chris Cain.”
Doc Coyle shared details about his departure in a statement on X (formerly Twitter). “Dear Wolfpack, I regret to inform you that I have decided to part ways with Bad Wolves,” Coyle said. “It was not an easy decision to make. I have been playing with the band for almost 9 years, so this is a massive life change for me. It should be said that this is a completely amicable split.”
“I love John, Kyle, DL and AJ. Not being in the trenches going forward with my boys is the hardest part of all this,” he continued. “But this has been coming for a long while, and I think my time in the band has just run its course.”
Coyle voiced his support for the band’s future. “I am still rooting for Bad Wolves to take over the world. It warms my heart knowing that our old guitarist, Chris Cain, is coming back to take the baton from me on lead guitar.”
“I won’t provide an in-depth explanation on why I’m leaving at the moment. I’m sure I’ll share more details at some point when it’s appropriate. I feel like I’ve lost a bit of who I am as a creative and where my passion lies. Being in this band has brought challenges that have taken quite an emotional toll and burned me out,” he concluded.
The lineup changes mark a significant moment in the band’s journey. Several recent developments have shaped their current direction.
Blabbermouth revealed that the band released their album ‘Die About It’ in 2023. Josh Gilbert co-produced the album, which featured successful singles like ‘Legends Never Die.’
Chris Cain’s return represents a significant milestone for Bad Wolves. Ghost Cult Magazine noted his previous tenure with the band from 2017 to 2022. His experience and familiarity will enhance the group’s dynamic.
Live Metal highlighted the band’s commitment to their signature heavy sound. The renewed lineup plans to explore new musical directions while maintaining their established style.
Coyle has outlined his plans for the future. He currently focuses on writing music and exploring new creative directions. This period marks a time of personal and professional growth for the guitarist.
