Babymetal Singer Shares Dream Metal Festival Lineup Including Evanescence And Nightwish

During a recent conversation with Metal Hammer, Babymetal’s singer, Su-metal, shared her dream metal festival lineup, showing her preference for names like Evanescence and Nightwish.

The trio, known for blending the heavy metal genre with J-pop, responded to a range of questions about their career, their love for metal, and more. When asked about their dream festival lineup, Su-metal replied:

“I have a dream of holding a festival that brings together female vocalists such as those in Evanescence, Nightwish and Arch Enemy.”

A Diverse Wish List

Moametal, on the other hand, had a broader vision, as she said:

“Metallica! They are on a world tour, so I’d like to invite them to Japan and welcome them with our omotenashi – Japanese hospitality. I’d also love to meet Rob Halford again, so Judas Priest. I want to invite Red Hot Chili Peppers, going across genres, and I want to meet Dragonforce for the first time in a while! I definitely want Bring Me The Horizon, who invited us to their festival, too.”

The newest full-time member, Momometal, also brought her picks to the table, noting:

“Yungblud, Willow Smith, and [Japanese girl-group] Atarashii Gakko!”

Past Collaborations And Influences

The members’ choices are not without precedent; Babymetal has previously worked with some of these artists. They were featured alongside Amy Lee of Evanescence in Bring Me The Horizon’s EP ‘Post Human: Survival Horror,’ which was released on 30 October 2020. The song ‘Kingslayer’ featured Babymetal, while Lee contributed to ‘One Day the Only Butterflies Left Will Be in Your Chest as You March Towards Your Death.’

In an interview with Rolling Stone Japan, Su-metal expressed her current favorite song is ‘Storytime’ by Nightwish, indicating her admiration for the band. The song, which was released as a video in 2011 ahead of their ‘Imaginarium’ album, features vocals by Anette Olzon.
