Causing trouble during a show… Doesn’t that seem familiar in Axl Rose’s context? Although this seems like old news since the Guns N’ Roses frontman is known for being involved in headlines like this, this is actually current news. Axl recently threw a microphone at the crowd and injured a fan so badly that she went public with it.

Axl’s microphone-throwing stunt is famous according to the regular fans attending GN’R concerts. Hence, the fan who got injured knew what was coming, and she told ABC, “I was just putting out a warning for people if Axl sings ‘Paradise City,’ get ready to duck for cover.” Yet unfortunately, she still got hit by the microphone.

After the fan made the allegations public, Axl felt the need to defend himself and released a statement on his Twitter account. He wrote, “It’s come to my attention that a fan may have been hurt at our show in Adelaide, Australia, possibly being hit by the microphone at the end of the show when I traditionally toss the mic to the fans.”

The singer continued, “If true, obviously we don’t want anyone getting hurt or to somehow in any way hurt anyone at any of our shows anywhere. Having tossed the mic at the end of our show for over 30 years, we always felt it was a known part of the very end of our performance that fans wanted and were aware of to have an opportunity to catch the mic.”

He stated that he only wanted to continue the tradition of allowing fans to catch his microphone, but it seems like Axl does not want to do that anymore after this incident. The rocker noted, “Regardless, in the interest of public safety from now on, we’ll refrain from tossing the mic or anything to the fans during or at r performances.”

Rose revealed their decision that the stunt is now out. The frontman was also angry at the people and the journalists for exaggerating the news. He said, “Unfortunately, there are those that, for their own reasons, chose to frame their reporting regarding this subject in a more negative and irresponsible out-of-nowhere light which couldn’t be farther from reality. We hope the public and, of course, our fans get that sometimes happens. A big thanks to everyone for understanding.”

Of course, they didn’t want to hurt anyone, but the stage fever and the energy musicians gain when they’re up there could refrain them from the reality that the people coming to see them in concerts are made of flesh and bone. Some fans are satisfied with the decision as they don’t want to be hurt. However, others believe it’s a silly ending for such a huge, long-standing tradition.
