Avril Lavigne Says She Went Back To Her Roots, Green Day And Blink-182, In New Album

Avril Lavigne recently spoke to Entertainment Weekly and reflected on her forthcoming seventh album. Lavigne stated that she turned back to the sounds that heavily influenced her at the beginning of her music career.
When Lavigne stepped into her musical journey in the early 2000s, she created her original style by fusing pop, rock, and punk. Lavigne’s punk-rock look marking her authenticity has also stood out since the beginning of her career. Her music style is hard to explain for most people since she likes moving around various genres. Her songs are mostly surrounded by high-spirited melodies.
Avril Lavigne had released her latest album, ‘Head Above Water,’ in 2019 after six years of break. This was the longest gap she had between the two albums. Lavigne had been struggling with Lyme Disease within this period, which severely affected her health. Her latest album reflected her battle with this difficult illness.
During the interview with Entertainment Weekly, Avril stated that she feels extremely happy as she goes back to her pop-punk roots after 20 years. She revealed that when she was a kid, she would listen to Green Day, Blink-182, and NOFX. She was heavily influenced by their music when she launched her musical journey. Avril explained that she really wanted to enjoy rock music in her upcoming album.
Avril Lavigne explained the roots of her new album:
” I know, it’s so crazy. How did that happen? I’m really stoked about the new music and just in such a good place. We’re all having so much fun. I really went back to what sounds I originally was influenced by at the beginning of my career. To the core, I’m a kid from a small town who listened to bands like Blink-182 and Green Day and NOFX in high school, and I tapped into that. But I also was writing power ballads like ‘I’m With You’ and stuff like that, so this time I just wanted to have fun and rock out. It just felt like it was time to make this type of an album.”
Avril Lavigne released her newest single, ‘Bite Me,’ on November 10, 2021, which is her debut on Travis Barker’s DTA records. The song is the first single from her forthcoming album, which is planned to be released in February 2022.
