Avril Lavigne Reflects On The Hardest Part Of Being A Musician

During a new interview with Fault Magazine, Avril Lavigne revealed that finding a good producer to work with during her musical process was one of the hardest things she had to overcome.

It has been almost 20 years since Avril Lavigne released her debut album, ‘Let Go.’ The album did exceptionally well in many countries, and it was one of the biggest debuts of 2002. She made an impressive entry to the music scene and managed to bring pop punk music into the mainstream. Nowadays, Lavigne is excited about her upcoming seventh studio album, ‘Love Sux.’

The album is scheduled to be released on February 25, 2022, and features her collaboration with Mark Hoppus, Blackbear, and Machine Gun Kelly. The first single from the forthcoming album, ‘Bite Me’ dropped on November 10, 2021, and the second one, ‘Love It When You Hate Me,’ featuring Blackbear 3was released on January 14, 2022.

In her musical journey spanning over twenty years, Avril Lavigne must have certainly faced many difficulties. She was asked about them during the interview, and as she revealed, finding a good producer was really challenging for her at the beginning of her career. The singer finally felt more comfortable when she started working with John Feldmann and Travis Barker since they understood her music and style. Her previous producers didn’t understand her, so it has always been challenging to find someone who will reflect her style.

When asked about the biggest challenge she faced in her music career, Avril Lavigne replied:

“The hardest was finding a good producer! When I met John Feldmann, I was like, ‘Where have you been in the last ten years!?’ Finding him and working with people like Travis Barker, who has evolved so much musically to writing and producing. I’ve been waiting for this for a very long time. They are musicians that really understood me and my style and where I come from as opposed to some random pop producer trying to do something edgy, which has honestly been like a challenge that I’ve come up against in my career.”

Avril Lavigne would also go on an extensive tour in 2022 to support her upcoming album, but she recently had to postpone her UK and European tour to April/May 2023 due to the strict regulations related to the pandemic. The bad news disappointed the fans who had been waiting for the shows for a long time.
