Attention Metallica Fans: Now You Can Join James Hetfield’s Son In Bastardane

In an opportunity announced by Bastardane on Instagram, fans of Metallica now have the chance to play alongside James Hetfield’s son, Castor Hetfield, in his band Bastardane.

Bastardane, featuring Castor, has recently opened auditions for a new bass player. They invited musicians to show what they got by writing in the caption:

“Los Angeles bass players. You are wanted.”

The band’s call for audition tapes is a direct invitation to bassists eager to be part of the group, which released its debut album, ‘Is This Rage?’ in 2022. Bastardane has gained experience on several support tours, including performances with OTTTO, a band that features Tye Trujillo, son of Metallica’s Robert Trujillo, and participation in Metallica’s ‘No Repeat Weekend’ tour.

Community Response To The Audition

The announcement has stirred excitement among fans and musicians alike, with many expressing their eagerness to audition or lamenting their geographical or musical limitations. One person said:

“I’ve never wanted to play bass more in my life.”

Another said:

“If only I was in LA.”

The departure of former bassist Sterling Brown has also been noted, with a fan expressing:

“Aw, Sterling will be missed. Best of luck to him.”

Audition Requirements And Process

As they disclosed on their website, Bastardane has set specific criteria for their new bassist, who must live in the Los Angeles, California area, be available for rehearsals and shows, possess bass playing skills, and, importantly, be cool. The band is looking for a bassist who can learn new ideas, jam on odd meters/metric modulation, hold it down during performances, tour, and be an active member of the band.

Potential candidates are asked to submit a video playing through Bastardane’s song ‘Masquerade,’ a video playing through a song of their choice, and some personal information and history of their playing. The deadline for these submissions is Thursday, March 4, to auditions@bastardane.com.

Bastardane, with its current lineup of vocalist Jacobious Lovebone, guitarist Ethan Sirotzki, and drummer Castor Hetfield, is looking forward to welcoming a new bassist as they continue their musical journey. Castor Hetfield, choosing drums over following in his father’s guitar-playing footsteps, shows his desire to carve out his own path in the music industry.
