As I Lay Dying tour manager Alex Kendrick recently addressed fan concerns about working with the band despite Tim Lambesis’ controversial behavior. He shared his perspective in a statement on Instagram.
A fan asked Kendrick about any hesitation in working with As I Lay Dying given the “troubling behavior patterns from Tim Lambesis.” Kendrick provided a candid response about his decision-making process.
“Sure there was some hesitation but like everything else I weighed pros and cons,” Kendrick said. “Without going too in depth, in the late 2024 events let’s just say there’s a reason it’s a wildly healthy environment now.”
The tour manager went on to describe his recent experience working with Lambesis during their time in Russia.
“Tim Lambesis and I hung and bonded more in the couple of weeks in Russia than we did over the course of all the previous tours,” he continued. “There’s only one variable. Do with that information as you wish. I do not believe in cancel culture.”

Kendrick’s comments come in the wake of significant upheaval within As I Lay Dying that occurred throughout 2024. This marked one of the most turbulent periods in the band’s history.
The metalcore band faced substantial controversy in 2024 when Tim Lambesis became embroiled in allegations and public backlash related to his personal conduct and statements. The situation created widespread concern within the metal community and among the band’s fanbase. It led to questions about the group’s future and stability.
The fallout from these controversies proved devastating for the band’s lineup and operations. Multiple band members distanced themselves from the group during this period. Several departures occurred as the situation intensified. The instability forced the band to cancel and postpone numerous tour dates. This disrupted their planned touring schedule and affected their professional commitments.
The controversy also triggered significant changes in the band’s management structure and touring operations. As the situation unfolded, the band was forced to address calls for accountability from both fans and the broader metal music community. This led to a period of restructuring and reassessment of their operations.
Kendrick’s recent statements suggest that the band has worked to create what he describes as a “wildly healthy environment” following the late 2024 events. His emphasis on the improved working relationship with Lambesis during their recent time in Russia indicates potential progress in addressing the internal issues that plagued the band during the height of the controversy.
