Amber Heard Says She Never Named Johnny Depp In Her Domestic Abuse Accusations

In her recent Instagram post, Amber Heard addressed the ongoing lawsuit between her and her ex-husband, Johnny Depp. The actor stated that she never named Depp in her domestic abuse allegations.

After meeting on a movie set, Amber Heard and Johnny Depp got married in February 2015, but their happiness didn’t last long. They confirmed their split in May 2016, followed by a divorce suit later that month. Heard accused Depp of physical and verbal abuse and even brought photographs to the court to prove the alleged abuse she experienced.

Later in 2018, Heard published a column in the Washington Post and talked about her personal experiences of domestic abuse. She did not mention her alleged abuser by name, but it was widely assumed to be Johnny Depp as she had previously accused him of domestic violence. Depp filed a lawsuit against Heard in March 2019, claiming that it seriously damaged his reputation and career.

In her Instagram post, the actress addressed the lawsuit Depp filed against her and stated that she never named him in her domestic abuse accusations in that column. She claimed that she just wrote about the general condition of women having difficulty speaking out against men in power. Heard said that she loves her ex-husband and she wouldn’t want to go through all these in front of the world. Then, she thanked her supporters, saying that it means so much to her.

Amber Heard’s Instagram post read:

“I’m going to go offline for the next several weeks. As you may know, I’ll be in Virginia where I face my ex-husband Johnny Depp in court. Johnny is suing me for an op-ed I wrote in the Washington Post, in which I recounted my experience of violence and domestic abuse. I never named him, rather I wrote about the price women pay for speaking against men in power.

I continue to pay that price, but hopefully, when this case concludes, I can move on, and so can Johnny. I have always maintained a love for Johnny, and it brings me great pain to have to live out the details of our past life together in front of the world. At this time, I recognize the ongoing support I’ve been fortunate to receive throughout these years, and in these coming weeks, I will be leaning on it more than ever.”
