Alice Cooper’s band Hollywood Vampires is facing legal action over a canceled European concert. TMZ reported this development in their coverage of the ongoing dispute.
The lawsuit stems from allegations that the band, featuring Johnny Depp, Alice Cooper, and Joe Perry, failed to perform at a scheduled show and did not return advance payments to the promoter.
“Johnny Depp’s band Hollywood Vampires is being dragged in federal court in Texas over a concert they canceled in Europe … but they’re fighting the suit, and calling for it to be tossed out of court,” TMZ reported.
The legal dispute involves significant financial claims from the concert promoter.
“A concert promoter in Bratislava, Slovakia, is suing Hollywood Vampires alleging Depp, Alice Cooper and Joe Perry bailed on a July 2023 concert despite being paid around $277K in advance and never returning the money, according to a lawsuit obtained by TMZ,” the report continued.
The band is reportedly contesting the lawsuit and seeking to have it dismissed from court.
This legal challenge comes after a troubled European tour for the supergroup in July 2023. The tour saw multiple cancellations that disappointed fans across the region.
Music News revealed that the Hollywood Vampires canceled their Bratislava concert due to what they described as an “unsafe” venue. The band was reportedly “very upset” about the conditions. This cancellation marked the second consecutive show the band had to call off during their European tour.
The Bratislava cancellation followed another disappointing development for fans. XpatLoop reported that the band had already canceled their Budapest show on July 18, 2023, citing “unforeseen circumstances.” At that time, the band announced that all tickets, including general admission and VIP packages, would be refunded to disappointed concertgoers.
RTE Entertainment confirmed that Hollywood Vampires is a supergroup that includes Alice Cooper on vocals, Aerosmith’s Joe Perry on guitar, and Johnny Depp also on guitar. The band had previously built a reputation for energetic live performances before the troubled 2023 European tour.
The pattern of cancellations during the summer 2023 tour appears to have created ongoing complications for the band. Venue safety concerns and logistical issues led to the current legal dispute. While the band cited safety reasons for the cancellations at the time, the lawsuit now alleges financial impropriety regarding advance payments that were not returned to promoters.
