Adam Gontier’s Defence After The Suspicious Three Days Grace Departure

Everything comes down to the fact that relationships, no matter in what context, all need closure. It will sting to realize when the dust has settled that the other person is no longer interested in being in the same circle as you, even if you have spent many years in the same band.

For instance, Three Days Grace’s former frontman Adam Gontier was with the band one minute, and the next, he was gone, which left his bandmates wondering why the lead vocalist decided to go his own way. Here’s what Gontier had to say about his departure.

The band initially released a statement in 2013, saying that Gontier had left the band because of his health issues without giving any further details about his situation. The suspicion arose when the band and the rest of the world saw the singer perform soon after he departed from Three Days Grace.

After all of the speculations about Grontier’s mysterious departure, fans assumed that he had relapsed due to his previous battle with drug addiction. However, the singer released a heartfelt note to ease fans’ worries about his condition. “To all of my fans, friends, and family, these are my words coming from my heart, separate from my role as the lead singer of Three Days Grace,” he began. “I want you all to know how thankful I am for your consistent love, respect, and undying support.”

The singer clarified his situation, saying, “It is important for me to address any concerns regarding my health being connected to drugs or addiction. The truth is, when I was struggling during that dark time in my life, I hit rock bottom, and I had the kindest of people reach out from all over the world and reach their hands out to help pick me up. I am so blessed to be walking in the light now. I am reminded of your loyalty constantly. The truth is, and I’m very proud to say this; I am sober. That chapter in my life is over.”

The frontman shared Three Day Grace’s role in his life, explaining, “There have been many defining moments in my life. My time as part of Three Days Grace is most definitely one of the miraculous ones. I have had so many tender-hearted people share their stories with me about how I’ve touched or changed their lives. My truth is that all of the love I have received has forever changed my life. Each letter I’ve read, every picture I’ve been sent, and all of the voices I’ve heard sing along with me, I will forever remember and never forget.”

Gontier reflected on his decision to start a new adventure, and added, “After twenty years of being part of an ever-evolving band, I have been inspired by life to move on and evolve on my terms. I could not be more grateful for all the souls who have traveled with me. A journey I look back on with integrity and a future I look forward to with such hope.”

The rocker concluded his words, noting, “I have always admired brave hearts. Life is always changing. I will continue to follow my heart and what I love to do. I’m not sure what the next horizon will look like, but I do have all the faith in the world that whatever it is, It’s meant to be, and I have faith that blessings will continue to shine over us. I once heard a ‘brave heart’ say: ‘When nothing is sure, everything is possible.’ It’s because of my life’s journey, because of all of you, that I believe.”

After Adam Gontier’s departure, Matt Walst of My Darkest Days became the band’s new lead vocalist. They embarked on their 2013 tour, accompanied by Shinedown and P.O.D. They’ve continued to produce music and release albums and are still in the rock scene today.
