Some artists are so talented and influential that they touch the masses beyond just the music and hold a special place in the heart of many music lovers. During a recent appearance on BBC Radio 2’s the Rock Show With Johnnie Walker, Nickelback’s Chad Kroeger set James Hetfield apart from any other musician and described the Metallica singer as his rock god.
“The artist I’d like to choose as my rock god is gotta be James Hetfield,” Kroeger said before explaining his reasons behind this choice. The singer noted, “I mean, have you seen Metallica play? There’s something about James live that just makes me wanna grit my teeth and scream along.”
So, when the Nickelback singer saw Metallica and Hetfield play live, he was mesmerized by their performance. Yet, it was not the only reason he admired James so much. Kroeger continued, “I was lucky enough to be side stage and see them play in Paris in front of 70 thousand people and then get a chance to go back and hang out with James afterwards.”
James Hetfield impressed Chad not only with his exceptional musicianship but also with his sincere human side. Kroeger added, “And he’s not only talented — amazing singer, songwriter, guitar player — but he’s also one of the sweetest people you could ever meet. So, that’s gotta be my choice.”
Thus, the Metallica singer is someone Chad Kroeger looks up to and respects in every way. Besides Hetfield’s creative genius, Kroeger also had the opportunity to get to know him better, which further increased his admiration for the talented singer.
