1975’s Matty Healy Roasts Yungblud After Generation Gap Statements

There is a conflict that has been going on between Yungblud and the 1975’s Matty Healy for a while. With a recent Instagram story from Healy, the tension increased more as it showed him heavily mockingly criticizing Yungblud.

Yungblud, who criticized Matty Healy for his controversial appearance at the Adam Friedland Show, talked once again about the 1975 vocalist in a Rolling Stone interview last year. Yungblud mentioned a generational gap between him and the 1975. The musician stated that although he liked Matty Healy and Alex Turner of Arctic Monkeys, he did not find them relatable. He also added that he was not ready to be ‘profound’ like them.

The young rocker’s statement read:

“When I look at the 1975 and Arctic Monkeys, they’re such a different generation to me. When they speak, they’re profound now. I don’t want to be profound yet; I want to be on the f*cking tarmac, on the ground. I love Matty [Healy], and I love Alex [Turner], but I don’t relate to them as much as I used to. They’re older, and it’s all very serious. I’m there, and then I’m not. We’re absolutely a generation apart; there’s a big difference between us. Different brains, a different way of communicating. Personally, I relate to Mac Miller, Billie Eilish, Lil Peep, and Lil Nas X. That’s where my head is at.”

Upon these words and new footage from one of his concerts where Yungblud was seen doing mundane acts with a poetic speech playing in the back, Matty Healy took his chance to ‘get back at him.’ The vocalist shared a black and white video of himself with ‘emo’ written on his face mocking Yungblud with an exaggerated impression. In the video, he implied that Yungblud does not have a ‘particular stand’ when it comes to morality and just ‘stands against stuff.’

Healy’s mock speech was as the following:

“Guys, I’m so f*cking angry because someone’s blowing themselves up in the f*cking air. In the UK, we’re not gonna stand for that because we’re the f*cking children, the f*cking underrated f*cking youth generation, and that’s what we stand for… I don’t stand for stuff; I stand against stuff, it’s not a particular thing that I stand for, I just stand against stuff, and it tends to be the most morally obvious stuff y’know that like everyone stands for… F*ck the patriarchy!”

An answer from Yungblud to Matty Healy’s video is yet to come. But, apparently, the dispute between the two will continue for a while as there is more to it than a generational gap. As it seems, the two have different views on morality and music. So, whether the conflict between them will settle or not is still a question.
