Wolf Van Halen Shares The Only Thing That Disappointed Him About Eddie Van Halen’s Grammy Tribute

Former Van Halen guitarist Wolfgang Van Halen opened up about the tribute of his late father, Van Halen guitarist Eddie Van Halen during the ‘In Memoriam’ segment at this year’s Grammy Awards during a recent interview with Finland’s Kaaos TV, and apparently, Wolfgang was disappointed most by the fact that they did not announce his father’s name.

As many of you might remember, there was a special section at the 63rd annual Grammy Awards which took place on March 14, named ‘In Memoriam’ which included numerous tribute acts to the legendary musicians who passed away over the last year.

During the ‘In Memoriam’ segment, numerous musicians took the stage to perform some of the songs of the lost musicians as Bruno Mars and Anderson Paak performed ‘Good Golly, Miss Molly’ as a tribute to Little Richard who passed away at the age of 87 in May after his battle with bone cancer. The Grammys also paid tribute to other musicians such as John Prine, Gerry Marsden, and Marry Wilson, along with Little Richard.

In addition to those legendary musicians, there was a brief segment paying tribute to late Van Halen guitarist Eddie Van Halen which lasted about 20 seconds with a video of Eddie playing the iconic ‘Eruption’ solo while there was a spotlight shining on his iconic red-white-and-black guitar.

Fans were furious after seeing the tribute segment for Eddie Van Halen since most of them felt like 20 seconds with a video was not doing the legendary guitarist justice because of the fact he was considered one of the most influential and greatest guitarists of all time according to many fans and critics.

During a recent interview, former Van Halen bassist opened up about the matter stating that the tribute section was completely different than what he imagined it would be, however, what disappointed him the most was the fact that the Grammys did not even mention Eddie Van Halen’s name at the beginning of ‘In Memoriam’ segment.

Here is what Wolfgang said:

It was really different than what I thought it was gonna be. But I think the only thing that really disappointed me was that he wasn’t mentioned by name, at least in the beginning. I felt like he should have at least been brought up.”
