Wolf Van Halen Mourns Father Eddie: ‘I Am Not OK, I Don’t Think I’ll Ever Be Okay’
Mammoth WVH founder Wolf Van Halen recently shared a photo with his late father Eddie Van Halen to pay tribute to Van Halen’s legendary guitarist on his death anniversary on his official Instagram account.
As you probably know, Eddie Van Halen had struggled with alcohol and drug addiction since he was young. Even though he went to rehabilitation and got clean in 2008, the longtime alcohol and drug use had seriously damaged his health over the years. Unfortunately, Eddie had to battle tongue, throat, and lung cancer.
Unfortunately, Eddie Van Halen passed away after having a stroke but spent his last moments surrounded by his family in a health center on October 6, 2020. His death devastated not only his family and friends but also Van Halen fans. His brother Alex Van Halen decided to isolate himself while Wolf focused on his music to make his father proud.
One year after his death, Wolf shared an emotional message addressed to his late father Eddie, saying that his death wasn’t fair because he fought so hard to get rid of cancer. Also, he stated that he will never be okay and misses his father so much that he would do anything to see him again. It seems like Wolf’s successful musical career is a way of paying tribute to Eddie.
Wolf’s IG post read:
You fought so hard for so long, but you were still taken away. It’s just so unfair.
I’m not okay. I don’t think I’ll ever be okay. There’s so much I wish I could show you. So many things I wish I could share with you. I wish I could laugh with you again. I wish I could hug you again. I miss you so much it hurts.
I’m trying to do my best here without you, but it’s really f’cking hard. I hope you’re still proud.
I love you with all of my heart, Pop. Watch over me.”
