When Mötley Crüe’s Vince Neil Tried To Become A Pilot

Mötley Crüe frontman Vince Neil gained international fame and commercial success thanks to his remarkable performance as a singer. His life has always been full of extraordinary adventures and unbelievable moments that the band’s fans can’t forget, even though some happened decades ago. It can’t be said that Neil is the craziest member of the world’s most notorious band, but he’s not the most ‘innocent’ one either.

Neil’s departure from Mötley Crüe, solo career, and reunion with the band can be interpreted as a great example of the frontman’s turbulent life and career. Along with his successful career as a professional musician, Neil has had a great interest in acting as well. So, he’s appeared on different movies, tv-series, and reality shows over the years. One of them was crazy and dangerous, even for a person like Vince Neil.

Vince Neil Appeared On A Reality Show

Vince Neil took place in ‘Police Academy 6: City Under Siege,’ ‘The Adventures of Ford Fairlane,’ ‘The Surreal Life,’ ‘Still Standing,’ and ABC’s ‘Skating with the Stars’ as a guest star or contestant. Also, he decided to work on a reality show pilot, which would focus on his life. Therefore, it seems clear that the frontman really likes acting and appearing on shows.

The frontman once appeared on the third season of a Canadian television docuseries about aviation entitled ‘The Aviators’ in 2012, when he had some free time to achieve his lifelong dream, which he couldn’t before due to Mötley Crüe’s busy schedule. The singer took flight training to get a pilot’s license, and his part was named ‘Vince Neil Escapes.’ It was a breathtaking adventure for both him and his fans.

Vince Neil Wanted To Get A Pilot’s License

Vince Neil accepted the channel and producer’s offer as soon as he heard it because he couldn’t miss the chance of getting paid and learning how to fly at the same time. During the reality show, Neil aimed to qualify for a pilot’s license, which he always wanted to, and he started with theoretical lessons through a website. Then, the Mötley Crüe lead singer began working with his instructor, Cholena Parkhurst, and every practice was very fun and incredible for him.

Neil shared his thoughts, saying:

“It’s not about having a reality show, but if it’s going to keep me flying, and I am basically getting paid to get better as a pilot, then absolutely! I’ll have that sea plane going to the Caribbean sooner than I thought.”

In one of the previous interviews, Neil opened up about his lessons saying that the take-off was easier than landing the plane, and he wished to fly with his family and friends with his own plane one day. However, after his reality show appearance, Vince Neil actually didn’t get his pilot’s license, and the reason behind it is still unknown. It seems that Iron Maiden’s Bruce Dickinson will remain the only rock star who is also a professional pilot.
