When Frances Lost Kurt Cobain’s Signature Guitar During Her Divorce

Frances Bean Cobain has been pursuing a successful career as a visual artist, model, and musician. Fans claim that she’s tried so hard to make a name for herself to prove that her only qualification is not being Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love’s child. Although she doesn’t like being in the headlines, her private life often draws the press’ attention.

As you may know, Frances married The Eeries’ Isaiah Silva on June 29, 2014. However, their happiness didn’t last long, and they got divorced on November 30, 2017. As a part of the agreement, Frances gained possession of their house while Silva took Kurt Cobain’s signature guitar gifted to him by Frances. So this time, not her marriage, but the incidents following her divorce were publicized in the media.

Frances Bean Cobain Had To Give Kurt Cobain’s Signature Guitar As A Part Of Divorce Settlement

According to Silva, Frances gave his father’s 1959 Martin D-18E acoustic guitar as a gif before they got married. After the divorce settlement, Courtney Love claimed that he didn’t have any right to take the guitar, and her daughter didn’t give it to him willingly. However, Love couldn’t change the court order, but Silva claimed she chose a brutal way to take it back.

As reported by TMZ, Silva filed a police report and accused Love of sending Britney Spears’s former manager Sam Lutfi, ’13 Reasons Why’ actor Ross Butler, private investigator and security expert John Nazarian, and musician Michael Schenk to threaten or even murder him to take the guitar. The case is still going on, but Silva didn’t appear in court. Therefore, many assumed that he made a deal with Courtney Love.

Here’s what the documents stated about the latest court order:

“There is no appearance on behalf of plaintiff this date.

Counsel represents to the court that the plaintiff has failed to comply with the 12/4/20 court order regarding the email address.

The court orders all parties to appear at the next court date. Failure to appear may result in monetary sanctions up to $1,500 pursuant to Code of Civil Procedure Section 177.5″

In addition, Kurt Cobain’s signature guitar was sold for $6 million at an auction last year to Rode Microphones owner Peter Freedman. Thus, Courtney Love didn’t manage to take the guitar back from Silva. It seems that the legal battle between Love and Silva will go on for years even though Frances Cobain and Silva got divorced almost four years ago.
