Vivian Campbell shared a health update after missing Def Leppard’s last two shows.
Campbell didn’t join the band on their October 14, 2024, private show in Nashville and their first concert of 2025 on January 18 in Mexico. In a recent social media post, the guitarist responded to fans’ concerns saying, “Thank you for all the recent messages and support. As you all may know, I was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma several years ago.”
Campbell also explained why he had to miss the latest concerts with Def Leppard,” I recently had a bone marrow transplant as part of my treatment plan, and it’s safe to say that thus far it’s been a very successful transplant!” He added, “I just have to keep my head down and my spirits up for the next 100 days of primary recovery.”
Back in 2013, Vivian confirmed his Hodgkin’s lymphoma diagnosis. “I’m about 2 months in and feeling rather spiffy, all things considered,” he said in a statement. “Hodgkin’s has an over 80% cure rate, so by my reckoning, if you’re going to have cancer, Hodgie’s is the one to have!”
Although Campbell’s future with Def Leppard is still uncertain, his determination and positive approach to battling his illness continue to give fans hope.
