Black Sabbath legend Tony Iommi has released a new single, “Stormwatcher,” from his upcoming album “From The Dark.” He announced the song on Instagram. The track features vocalist Jørn Lande. It comes with a dramatic animated video that brings Lande’s lyrics and imagery to life.

In the announcement, Iommi shared details about the release and the video.

“Out now: Stormwatcher by Tony Iommi & Jørn Lande,” Iommi said. “The official video was created by the brilliant CUB Animation, Budapest and is available to watch on YouTube – link in bio. This is the second single from the new Iommi solo album ‘From The Dark,’ out on 23rd October.”

Lande also commented on the meaning behind the song.

“It channels something from within, something real,” Lande said. “We are the captain of our own vessel, a ship crashing through unknown and sometimes challenging waters, always navigating forward, steering steady through every storm, driven by dreams of new horizons and longing for something new.”

“Stormwatcher” follows an earlier release from the record. The album’s lineup and details help show how the project fits into Iommi’s solo career.

“World Alone” was the first single from “From The Dark.” Iommi announced the album and premiered that track on July 29. “Stormwatcher” is the second preview of the record.

Lande is not a one-song guest. He sings lead vocals throughout “From The Dark,” which makes him a central part of the album. Iommi and Lande have worked together before. Lande sang with Iommi, Geezer Butler and Vinny Appice when Heaven & Hell paid tribute to the late Ronnie James Dio.

Iommi has surrounded the singer with a tight backing band. Bassist Becky Baldwin plays with Mercyful Fate. Drummer Karl Brazil has worked with Robbie Williams. Both appear on “Stormwatcher,” along with keyboardist Mike Exeter.

The standard edition of “From The Dark” has eight songs. The tracklist is “Over The Violent Sun,” “Black Times,” “World Alone,” “Beyond The Dead,” “Stormwatcher,” “Death Wake,” “Return Of The Arbalist” and “Legacy.” “Stormwatcher” sits fifth in the running order. BMG will release the album worldwide on October 23.
