Frontiers Music Srl has officially announced the signing of Shogun Mojo, a new rock collaboration featuring legendary KISS guitarist Tommy Thayer.
The label’s announcement introduced the band’s lineup and offered a first look at the musical direction of their upcoming debut album.
“Frontiers Music Srl is proud to welcome Shogun Mojo to the Frontiers family,” the label said. “The new powerhouse collaboration brings together legendary KISS guitarist Tommy Thayer and acclaimed singer-songwriter Dan Reed, joined by bassist Bengan Jonasson and drummer Robert Mehmet Ikiz. Blending rock & roll, funk, fusion, and the raw energy of classic ’70s rock, Shogun Mojo’s upcoming debut album is a bold, groove-driven celebration of music, life, and creative freedom.”
The label also shared details about the production team behind the record.
“Co-produced and engineered by Geoff Tyson and mixed by Rob Daiker, the debut album promises world-class musicianship, undeniable chemistry, and a fresh modern sound rooted in timeless rock,” the announcement continued. “More details coming soon.”
Thayer himself spoke about the creative process behind the project, highlighting his personal connection with bandmate Dan Reed.
“Collaborating with my dear friend Dan Reed on this project has been an inspiring and rewarding experience from start to finish,” Thayer said. “We set out to create something powerful and unique, and I truly believe we’ve achieved that.”
No release date for the debut album has been announced yet, with the label indicating that more details will follow.
The formation of Shogun Mojo marks a significant step in Thayer’s post-KISS musical journey. The guitarist has wasted little time in channeling his energy into new creative ventures since the band’s retirement from live performance.
Thayer had already signaled his intent to remain active in music by appearing on a new single titled “Bikerock” alongside Czech artist Ben Cristovao. It served as his first major solo recording outside of KISS and hinted at a willingness to explore new musical territory beyond the iconic band that defined much of his career.
The duo has reportedly already completed the first batch of material for the Shogun Mojo debut album. The music is described as a blend of melodic hard rock, classic rock, and modern influences — a direction that aligns closely with the groove-driven sound the label teased in its announcement.
Reed brings a well-established pedigree to the project. As the frontman of the Dan Reed Network, he built a reputation in the late 1980s for fusing rock with funk and soul elements. That musical DNA appears to be a central ingredient in Shogun Mojo’s sound.
Together, Thayer and Reed represent a pairing of two artists with deep roots in rock’s most energetic eras. With the album already taking shape and Frontiers Music Srl backing the project, Shogun Mojo is positioned as one of the more compelling rock debuts to watch in the coming months.
